How to Disable McAfee Internet Security Suite

Double click the McAfee (M) icon on the Windows taskbar. It is usually located near the clock.

Go to the Advanced Menu and click on the "Configure" tab. If this tab is not visible, click on the "Advanced Menu" link.

Click on "Computer and Files."

Select the off option in the next window under "Virus protection is enabled." The next dialog box will give you two options.

• If you want to restart anti-virus protection at a certain time, click the "Select when to re-enable real time scanning" menu and choose a time. Hit the OK button.
• If you need the anti-virus software down for an extended amount of time, choose "Never" from the real time scanning menu and click OK.

Click the X button on the upper right corner to close McAfee.

How to Disable McAfee Security Center

Right click the McAfee icon (M) in the Windows system tray or taskbar.

Point your cursor at the "Virus Protection" and click disable. This disables the "ActiveShield" part of the software that monitors your system for threats.

Click "Yes" to confirm the change. Your (M) should change from red to black. This option should only stop McAfee for the session you're on.

·         To stop "ActiveShield" for longer than one Windows session, click "options" instead of "disable" under "Virus Protection". Uncheck the "Start ActiveShield when Windows starts" box and click "Apply." Click OK to close the program with your saved changes.

 How to Disable McAfee Total Protection

Click the "Total Protection Service" icon from the Windows system tray.

Select "Open Console."

Choose "Product Details" from the Action Menu.

Select "Disable" from the Virus and Spyware Protection tab for "On access Scanning."

When you are ready to restore security, select "Enable" under Virus and Spyware Protection.
